ABOUT ME
Agathe Lavarel is a versatile artist: composer, arranger, flutist, singer, and producer. Her music blends orchestral writing, electronic elements, and experimental textures, focusing on integrating vocal and flute textures into films, animations, XR experiences, and live concerts.
Collaboration with filmmakers is central to her work. She has composed for around twenty films, short films, animations, and video games, receiving several international awards, including an Honorable Mention for her film score at the Soundtrack Cologne Festival in 2024.
Agathe also works with electronic artists. In 2023, she advised on artistic direction and production for Bellaire's track "Sambossa," featured on the EP Sunset Ballad. She collaborates with Colibri as a flutist, singer, and keyboardist, in both live and studio settings.
In theater, she composes and performs for a play by Compagnie de l'Onde, directed by Manon Ayçoberry, based on Dorothy Allison's book Two or Three Things I Know for Sure.
Her interests in innovation and new media are reflected in her co-founding of a project with web designer Anna Baumann, which includes a 3D website exploring the relationship between image and sound. She also served as producer and composer for an extended-reality exhibition on hip-hop at the Musée de la Civilisation du Québec with Saga Stratégie Sonore.
In 2023, Agathe received the "J'explore" prize from La Nouvelle Onde, and in 2022, she won the 1st Prix Allia pour la Relève from the Alliance of Women in the Creative Industry in Canada.
